Assignment (due next Monday 10/7) write 4 treatments for short film ideas, using your character.

Wednesday we will be working with lighting in one of the studios. Please bring your camera, your GLOVES (!) and dress appropriately--shoes and pants to protect feet and body parts.

Wed 9/25

From the starting point of your newly created fictional character, use script writing software* to write your first draft of the short film you will ultimately produce for the class.  This script should be around 5 pages. (And it will have a beginning, middle, end, character(s), conflict(s), setting(s) and resolution.)

*suggested software is Adobe Story or Celtx which is available on all Film School computers.

Mon 9/23

assignment: write all the FACTS you know from observing your "character." This does not need to be narrative descriptive, but listing only what you have observed... "the facts, nothing but the facts."

We will begin to expand, develop and shape these facts into your fictional character in class on Wednesday.

Wed 9/18

complete your final edited version of "Getting From Here to There" due Monday 9/23. Bring the finished edit to class as a Quicktime file, or you may upload to an internet venue (Youtube, Vimeo, etc.). If uploaded, make sure you have sent me the link, so we can access it for viewing in class.

Read Chapter 4 in text.

Do more observation of your anonymous "character," we will start development of this character and your first story ideas next week.

Monday 9/16

with your team, shoot "From Here to There" exercise (page posted to the right.) Each team member must capture their own footage, for the editing aspect of the assignment.

On Wednesday, bring your footage (camera & connecting cables) to Lab 1, WITH YOUR HARD DRIVE. We will begin editing the project then, and view all projects next Monday 9/23

•use framing that is balanced and unbalanced

•use high angles and low angles, and

•at least one “Dutch” angle

•at least one “deep frame” and one “flat frame” 

On Monday, bring your camera and these still images to class on your SD card for viewing.
