Getting from Here to There
Due Monday Sept 23.
Scenario
Sam gets out of his/her car. Sam walks up to a residence and gets out his/her keys—only to find that he/she does not have them. He searches his pockets, purse, etc., then retraces his steps, back to the car to see if they are locked in the car. They are not to be found, so Sam curses to himself. He looks to the sky in frustration, then turns back to the house. When he does he spots the keys by the edge of the curb. Relieved, he picks them up and walks off towards the house.
This is an exercise in coverage, continuity, 180 degree rule, compositions and visual storytelling. How can you shoot this scenario in a way that it will edit together (continuity, 180 rule), and have enough footage to edit it together (coverage)? Try to shoot inserts, POV shots, maintain screen direction, get your WS, MS, CU's and inserts and cutaways. Always do at least 2 good takes of each setup.
No audio.
After shooting your footage you will edit it in Premiere. We will be in Lab 1 on Wednesday to work on this aspect of the assignment.
